Nepal Innocence
We are the lucky ones, 2 girls who go to school. Schooling isnt considered important for girls who usually never leave their village. After the 6th grade we must go to Katmandu and live with relatives or live at a boarding school to continue are schooling. Few of us are able to do this. 75% of the people are illiterate. There is a high infant mortality rate. It a child survives until age five, they are immune to most diseases and will live to their 50s.
Almost all villages have their own language or dialect and many of the people do not speak Nepali, which is the official language of Nepal.
Our parents dont want us to beg just as parents in other countries dont want their children to beg. When you give us pencils, pens, candy and other things, we know you are trying to be kind and yet you are encouraging us to beg. Please dont. Give school supplies to the local teacher instead.
